How I work
My work draws primarily on Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). A lot of the people I work with are high-functioning in their day-to-day lives. They manage work, parenting, study, responsibility, and all the things they need to keep going, but internally they still feel stuck in persistent emotional patterns, distress, or unresolved trauma. My work is not about quick fixes or surface-level symptom management. It is about understanding what is happening at the root and working through it properly.
I am generally lighthearted and also direct. I will speak up for my feelings and reactions towards you and the therapy process to both strengthen our relationship and also allow you to do the same. I recognise that I will not be the best fit for everyone, which is why I screen for the people I believe I will work best with. However, if I believe there to be potential in our work together, I will deeply invest in you and ensure that the therapy process does not falter.
Therapy with me will involve some talk, but most of the time I will invite you to go inside and engage directly with the parts and experiences that need attention. At this stage of my career, I am both sure and confident in the healing process and will check in with you if it feels like we are stagnating or changing direction.

Experience
I have provided psychological services to adolescents and adults across a range of settings, including headspace, schools, public health, and private practice. I have experience working within NDIS and WorkCover schemes, and I have also held leadership roles as an executive manager and clinical supervisor within mental health services.
I have supported athletes, coaches, and support staff as a former member of the Australian Institute of Sport mental health referral network, and I continue to work with individuals in this space privately.
Within private practice, I have primarily worked with complex presentations, including complex trauma, personality-related difficulties, substance use, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and severe anxiety and depressive illnesses.
I also continue to engage in ongoing supervision, professional development, and training. That matters to me. I take this work seriously, and I think if you are going to sit with people in the way we do, you should keep refining your craft.
Before psychology, I studied law, became qualified as a personal trainer, and spent over 20 years training in Kyokushin Karate. Outside of work now, I enjoy motorcycling, going to the gym, training, learning new hobbies like piano, cooking, being outdoors, and spending time with my kids.
